  Granted, I grew up in a world where Good food was a standard, and I was brought there by people who are on first name basis with the entire staff.
  I've also been in enough places that substitute quantity for quality. [ our group ranged from late 40s to mid 70s in age, and we were there finishing up the remembrances for a person who was an amazing cook in her own right, and chose this as one of her favored restaurants even when she was at her best.
  Around the table we had 2 orders of beef tips [one rice, one noodles] Roast pork with stuffing, Stuffed Peppers, fried fish, and sides ranging from yellow squash to okra, fried eggplant, carrot salad. The down marks I heard at our table were the fish had been better on other visits, the fried eggplant was dry and we did not have room for dessert.
  I am a small bit sad I was not able to visit during breakfast hours. those offerings looked like a real bit of amazing. [if anyone remembers Joanne's on Hananhan road in the North Charleston, SC area, were talking that sort of thing.]
  Truth is I don't work hard enough to eat like that any more, but between the food, the family and the personal memories of the waitresses for the person we were honoring it was a great experience.
  If you are inclined to dismiss my opinions as just part of a positive halo effect on a great day, you are welcome to your opinion.
  I will just say we can be a tough crowd and they welcomed us, kept up with every request and let us sit long enough to recover from our food buzz enough to drive back to our hotels.

  Friendly, quick, very helpful. The breakfast I had was great. Coffee was not bitter. Laugher was heard from the staff alot. I am full and happy.
